Toyota Recalls Unprecedented 2.3 Million Vehicles Due to Defective Accelerator Pedal

On January 21, 2010 Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc, recalled and suspended sales on numerous vehicles due to a defect in the accelerator pedal.  The defective or “sticky” accelerator pedals can cause a risk of automobile collisions in which significant injury and or death to the driver or other drivers can occur.  The accelerator pedal mechanisms can mechanically stick in a partially depressed position or return slowly to the idle position, potentially causing extremely dangerous conditions.  The models include:

-    2009-2010 RAV4
-    2009-2010 Corolla
-    2009-2010 Matrix
-    2005-2010 Avalon
-    2007-2010 Camry
-    2010 Highlander
-    2007-2010 Tundra
-    2008-2010 Sequoia
